When to seek counseling

Everyone runs into problems at different points in their lives. Some problems can be easily resolved. Others tend to persist to the point that they interfere with school, work or daily living. When this happens, talking about your problems with a trained professional may help. I strive to provide caring, compassionate, and confidential counseling services whether it is to teach you better communication, coping, problem solving skills or simply to listen without judgment. No matter how small or severe your problem seems to you, call me and let me help you.

What to expect in seeking counseling

In addition to listening to you and providing unconditional support through difficult times, each session is structured and tailored to address the issues with which you are struggling. At the intake/assessment session, I will be asking you and/or parents/guardians, significant others detailed questions about why you are seeking counseling services. With the information gathered at that session, we will work together to create a treatment plan with clear, measurable goals that you can work toward in the next few weeks or months. Subsequent sessions will be focused on teaching you more effective coping and/or problem solving skills. In addition, through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I will help you to examine your thought processes so that you can learn to recognize patterns of thinking that lead to anxious or depressive feelings and to help you make appropriate changes in order to live a more purposeful and fulfilled life.
